Former NHLer Brian McGrattan Knocked Out During AHL Fight, Leaves Ice On Stretcher
San Diego Gulls winger Brian McGrattan was felled by a right hand from San Antonio Rampage defenseman Daniel Maggio Tuesday night, and immediately hit the ice out cold. He was stretchered off the ice, though the Gulls later announced that he was conscious and alert:
McGrattan has bounced back-and-forth between the NHL and the minors during his ten-year NHL career, playing the last three seasons for the Calgary Flames. He was signed by the Anaheim Ducks during the offseason, and assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Gulls.
