Four-homer attack fuels Cubs' comfortable win over skidding Dodgers

Seiya Suzuki, Kevin Alcantara, Carson Kelly and Michael Busch homered for the Chicago Cubs in a 10-5 win against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.

Busch also delivered a two-run single in the opener of a three-game series, and he and Kelly produced three hits apiece. Pete Crow-Armstrong scored twice for the Cubs, who spotted the Dodgers a 3-0 lead after five pitches.

Chicago left-hander Matthew Boyd (7-1) regrouped to pitch at least six innings for the sixth straight outing. He allowed five runs (four earned) and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking one.

Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez homered while Shohei Ohtani and Kyle Tucker each had two hits and a run for the Dodgers, who have lost four in a row to match their longest skids of the season.

Dodgers left-hander Justin Wrobleski (11-3) surrendered four home runs for the second straight start. He gave up seven runs and seven hits over 4 1/3 innings, striking out four and walking three.

Ohtani and Andy Pages started the game with singles before Edman lined the first pitch he saw from Boyd into the seats in left for a 3-0 lead.

The Cubs quickly answered with a leadoff single by Crow-Armstrong and a line drive by Suzuki that narrowly cleared the wall in left for a two-run homer, cutting the deficit to 3-2.

Wrobleski got two quick outs in the second before walking Dansby Swanson. Alcantara followed with his first major league homer, giving the Cubs a 4-3 lead.

After Alex Bregman doubled into the left-center-field gap with one out in the third, Wrobleski left a slider on the inside part of the plate to Kelly, who deposited it over the fence in left for a 6-3 lead.

Tucker continued home from second when Crow-Armstrong bobbled a single to center by Eliezer Alfonzo in the fourth, trimming the gap to 6-4. Busch got the run back in the fifth when he went the other way for a solo homer to left-center, making it 7-4 and ending Wrobleski's night.

After Tucker was thrown out by right fielder Suzuki while trying for a double for the second out in the sixth, Hernandez blasted a 443-foot solo homer over the bleachers in left to pull Los Angeles within 7-5.

Kelly won an ABS challenge on a full-count, two-out pitch with the bases in the sixth, the fourth walk of the inning making it 8-5. Busch then grounded a two-run single to right.
