Galaxy send MLS Cup MVP Gaston Brugman to Nashville

Less than two weeks after he was selected the Most Valuable Player of the MLS Cup final, midfielder Gaston Brugman was dealt by the Los Angeles Galaxy to Nashville SC on Thursday in exchange for midfielder Sean Davis.
Nashville will continue to pay part of Davis' salary next season, but it could get $100,000 back depending upon Davis' performance.
Brugman wasn't a hugely influential player for the Galaxy in the 2024 regular season, starting in just 12 of his 22 appearances and finishing without a goal and with five assists.
However, getting a start in the MLS Cup final against the visiting New York Red Bulls, Brugman logged an assist and was a key performer in Los Angeles' 2-1 win on Dec. 7.
In three MLS seasons, all with the Galaxy, the 32-year-old Uruguayan has five goals and eight assists in 58 regular-season matches (47 starts).
Davis, a 31-year-old New Jersey native, played 25 matches and started 17 times for Nashville SC this year, producing no goals and one assist.
In 10 MLS seasons with the Red Bulls (2015-21) and Nashville (2022-24), Davis has five goals and 27 assists in 263 regular-season matches, including 211 starts.
Nashville missed the MLS playoffs this year, finishing in 13th place in the 15-team Eastern Conference with a 9-16-9 record (36 points).
The Galaxy came in second in the Western Conference at 19-8-7 (64 points) before rolling to the championship.
