Gen.G defeat Bilibili Gaming to reach MSI final
The Central team (blue) went in for the kill against Shawnee's (red) Inhibitor Turret during the final battle at the JCPS esports championship game of League of Legends on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 at Camp Edwards Gym. Central won, 2-0, to take the championship. Gen.G defeated Bilibili Gaming 3-1 on Thursday to secure a berth in the grand final of the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2024 in Chengdu, China.
The grand final is scheduled for Sunday, and Gen.G await the winner of Saturday's lower-bracket final. In that round, Bilibili Gaming will face the winner of the lower-bracket semifinal pitting T1 and G2 Esports.
BG started Thursday's upper-bracket final with a 36-minute win on red, and Gen.G followed with a pair of 29-minute victories -- first on blue and then red -- before capturing the decisive map in 42 minutes on red.
The $250,000 tournament began on May 1 with 12 teams competing for a $50,000 grand prize and qualification into the 2024 World Championship.
With the win by South Korea's Gen.G, the League of Legends Champions Korea earned a fourth spot in the worlds.
