Mandatory Credit: David Richard-Imagn Images Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will likely miss two weeks with a left groin strain, Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers said Tuesday.
Antetokounmpo injured his groin during the first half of Monday's 118-106 road loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was initially hurt during the first quarter and eventually exited with 3:03 left in the half.
The two-time MVP and nine-time All-Star underwent an MRI exam on Tuesday.
"I don't know what grade (of strain) it is, but I know it's not a bad one, so that's good news for us," Rivers said on the team's radio show. "But yet it's still probably two weeks he'll be out. And we'll see. Hopefully less, but most likely in that area."
Antetokounmpo, 30, wound up with 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and four turnovers in 13 minutes against Cleveland.
He has averaged 31.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists while playing in 13 of the Bucks' 15 games. He ranked fourth in the league in scoring and seventh in rebounding entering Tuesday's play.
In 13 NBA seasons, Antetokounmpo owns career averages of 24.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 872 games (807 starts). He led the Bucks to the 2020-21 NBA championship.
The Bucks (8-7), who have dropped four of their last six, host the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.
