Giants RT Tyre Phillips (torn quad) to have surgery

New York Giants starting right tackle Tyre Phillips will have surgery for a torn quadriceps muscle, head coach Brian Daboll confirmed Monday.
Phillips sustained the injury Sunday and was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of a 26-25 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in East Rutherford, N.J.
He played in 10 games this season (nine starts). A third-round draft pick by Baltimore in 2020, Phillips has played in 44 career games (27 starts) with the Ravens (2020-21) and Giants.
Phillips, 26, is set to become a free agent. New York (5-11) will close out the season at home this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles (11-5).
