Giants' Wilmer Flores exercises option, Robbie Ray staying put

Meanwhile, left-hander Robbie Ray elected not to opt out of his five-year, $115 million deal. He is owed $50 million over the final two seasons.
Flores, 33, batted just .206 with four homers and 26 RBIs in 71 games in 2024 during an injury-plagued season. He didn't play after July 23 and underwent knee surgery on Aug. 6.
In 2023, he hit .284 with a career-best 23 homers and 60 RBIs for San Francisco.
Overall, Flores has a .260 average with 153 homers and 532 RBIs in 12 seasons with the New York Mets (2013-18), Arizona Diamondbacks (2019) and San Francisco Giants (2020-24).
Ray made just seven starts last season due to injuries and went 3-2 with a 4.70 ERA.
Ray, 33, made his season debut on July 24 after recovering from Tommy John surgery. His last start was Aug. 25 when he sustained a left hamstring strain and missed the rest of the season.
