Gotham FC sign veteran Meredith Speck through end of season

The team also officially placed star defender Emily Sonnett (knee) on the season-ending injury list.
Speck, who grew up on Long Island, returns to the region after nine seasons with the North Carolina Courage.
Speck, 33, won her first of three NWSL championships with the Western New York Flash in 2016, adding titles with the Courage in 2018 and 2019. She has eight goals and eight assists in 106 career matches in the league.
Sonnett, 32, recently underwent surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in her left knee.
