Grizzlies signing 40-year-old big man Taj Gibson

The team confirmed the deal with a post on social media on Thursday night but no terms were disclosed.
His agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, told ESPN it is a two-year deal. HoopsHype reported the contract is guaranteed for the rest of this season and includes a non-guaranteed $3.8 million salary for 2026-27.
Gibson, who has appeared in 1,002 NBA games, last played for the Charlotte Hornets in 2024-25 and averaged 2.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 11.1 minutes in 37 games (11 starts).
A first-round pick (26th overall) by Chicago in 2009, Gibson has career averages of 8.4 points and 5.7 rebounds for the Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and Hornets.
According to ESPN, Gibson would become the 35th player ever to appear in an NBA game after his 40th birthday.
