Mandatory Credit: Dennis Lee-Imagn Images The Cleveland Guardians added to their bullpen Wednesday by acquiring left-hander Justin Bruihl from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations.
To make room on the 40-man roster, outfielder Jhonkensy Noel was designated for assignment.
Bruihl, 28, had a 5.27 ERA in 15 relief outings for the Blue Jays last season after spending the majority of his time at Triple-A Buffalo. He appeared in one postseason game for Toronto, giving up two runs in a third of an inning in the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees.
In parts of five major league seasons, including his first three with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bruihl is 2-2 with a 4.72 ERA in 94 appearances (two starts).
Noel, 24, batted .162 with six home runs and 13 RBIs in 64 games last season. The numbers failed to match his rookie season of 2024 when he batted .218 with 13 home runs and 28 RBIs in 67 games and hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning of a victory over the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
