Guilherme scored on a first-half penalty kick and the Houston Dynamo picked up their fourth consecutive victory by defeating the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 on Saturday night.

Jonathan Bond notched his fourth consecutive shutout, but it didn't require a save as Houston prevented a shot on goal.

The Dynamo were exactly dynamic, with only five total shots and two on frame.

Houston (11-6-2, 35 points), who have a seven-match unbeaten streak, largely controlled the field of play. They maintained possession for nearly 58% of the 90 minutes.

The result came in front of a sold-out crowd following back-to-back road victories.

Houston was without coach Ben Olsen, who sat out a one-game suspension because of yellow card accumulations. Assistant coach Juan Guerra was in charge of the bench.

The Galaxy (5-8-7, 22 points) are winless in their last six matches and haven't scored in either of their two outings this month. The Galaxy played a man down after a straight red card on defender Carlos Garces, who entered the match less than 10 minutes earlier, in the 58th minute.

Guilherme's 12th goal of the season gave him four straight games with one goal. The three league leaders have 13 goals on the campaign.

The penalty kick came in the 21st minute after Houston's Lawrence Ennali drew a foul in the box. John Nelson of the Galaxy committed the infraction.

Goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski made one save for the Galaxy.

The two teams had played to a 1-1 draw in Los Angeles on May 23.
