Happy Anniversary To Kerry Wood's 20-Strikeout Game

There’s never a bad time to relive the day Kerry Wood, then a 21-year-old rookie, struck out 20 goddamn Astros in a single game.

I was 10 when this happened, and for some reason I have a vivid memory of watching the game live. We got WGN in Colorado, for some reason, but I’m not sure why I would have been home on a Wednesday afternoon in May. Anyway, this game is stuck in my head as one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. That absurd curveball/slider thing on the final strikeout gets me every time.
