Here's Jozy Altidore's First Goal Of The Season
We've been waiting for USMNT starting striker Jozy Altidore to score his first Premier League goal, but through 13 weeks, he's been unable to find the back of the net. This due to a number of factors, including the fact that his new club, Sunderland, suck so, so hard. But today: a breakthrough!
Altidore finally got on the board, and he did so against an unlikely opponent. In the first half at home to second-place Chelsea, Sunderland won a free kick at the top of the box. The ball deflected through the crowd, then out again, before a Sunderland player found Altidore's feet, who was posted up with is back to goal around the penalty spot. He took one touch to control, spun, and fired a vicious left-footed shot past keeper Petr Čech and into the left corner of the net to give Sunderland the 1-0 lead.
It's Sunderland, though, and Chelsea have since taken the lead, 2-1.
