Mandatory Credit: Ben Queen-Imagn Images Honor Huff scored a game-high 24 points as West Virginia rolled to a 90-58 win over Little Rock on Tuesday in Morgantown, W. Va.
Huff connected on 8 of 11 3-point attempts for the Mountaineers (8-3). Treysen Eaglestaff tallied 23 points as he shot 8 of 14 from the field and 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Chance Moore came off the bench to chip in 12 points and six rebounds.
Cameron Wallace came off the bench to lead Little Rock (2-8) with 23 points and nine rebounds. Johnathan Lawson added 11 points for the Trojans, who have lost six straight games.
The Mountaineers had their highest scoring first half of the season as they took a 47-23 lead into the locker room. Eaglestaff opened the game with a 3-pointer from the corner. It would be a recurring theme for the Mountaineers, who shot 50% from 3-point range, connecting on 15 of 30 attempts. Little Rock made just 6 of 18 3-point attempts.
West Virginia started the game with an 18-4 run, capped off by Moore when he leaked out for a fast-break dunk. After that, Huff caught fire. He hit threes on four straight possessions for West Virginia, as the lead swelled to 33-11 with 7:15 remaining in the first half.
A Trojans' scoring run was brief, as a Wallace dunk and Lawson three were sandwiched around one of Huff's threes to cut the West Virginia lead to 36-17. The run prompted the Mountaineers to use a timeout.
After they momentarily regrouped, West Virginia snapped the Little Rock rally when Thomas hit a cutting Fields in the lane for a two-hand dunk.
The Trojans trailed 56-31 early in the second half after a jumper by Wallace. Lawson and Wallace made back-to-back threes on consecutive Little Rock possessions, sparking a 10-2 run for Little Rock as the West Virginia lead was cut to 65-43 with 10:19 remaining.
But it would be the closest the Trojans would get the rest of the way as an Eaglestaff three ignited a 19-2 West Virginia run to seal the game.
