Mandatory Credit: Jordan Prather-Imagn Images Georgetown announced Tuesday that center Vince Iwuchukwu is scheduled to undergo an unnamed medical procedure.
Iwuchukwu missed the start of his freshman season at Southern California after he went into cardiac arrest at a team practice in July 2022. The Hoyas did not indicate whether his current health needs are related to that incident.
"He is generally in good health and will take a brief recovery period, with a follow-up evaluation expected within six to eight weeks," the program's statement said. "He will return once he is cleared in that evaluation.
"He is in good spirits and appreciates the support."
A former five-star high school prospect, Iwuchukwu transferred to Georgetown this year after two seasons with USC and one at St. John's. In four games off the bench, Iwuchukwu is averaging 11.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 21.3 minutes per game, all of which represent career highs.
The 7-foot-1 Nigerian native started 11 of 31 games at USC in 2023-24 and averaged 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He appeared in 34 of 35 games at St. John's a season ago.
