Mandatory Credit: Ron Johnson-Imagn Images Illinois standout cornerback Xavier Scott will likely sit out Saturday's Big Ten contest at No. 19 Indiana due to a right foot injury.
Fighting Illini coach Bret Bielema said Thursday that Scott was seeking a second opinion on the foot and ankle.
"I don't know (whether) he'll be back for Saturday or where it's going to be in the season, but right now, no," Bielema said Thursday of Scott's availability for the Hoosiers.
No. 9 Illinois would be hit hard without Scott, a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season when he had four interceptions.
This season, Scott has six tackles and two pass breakups for the Illini.
Scott has six career interceptions and three forced fumbles in 39 games for Illinois over four seasons.
Illinois and Indiana both possess 3-0 records heading into their Big Ten openers.
