Sylvanie-Imagn Images New York Islanders captain Anders Lee will be sidelined one to two weeks with an upper-body injury, the team announced Wednesday.
The Islanders play their final preseason game Oct. 2 at Philadelphia and open the regular season at Pittsburgh on Oct. 9.
Lee, 35, has only missed one regular-season game in the past three seasons. The forward played all 82 games for the fourth time in his career in 2024-25, tallying 54 points (29 goals, 25 assists).
Lee is entering his 14th season with the Islanders, who drafted him in the sixth round (152nd overall) in 2009. He has 507 points (289 goals, 218 assists) in 841 games in the regular season and 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists in 46 games in the playoffs.
Lee won the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2023-24, presented to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made significant humanitarian contributions to his community.
He is entering the final season of a seven-year, $49 million contract.
