Mandatory Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Backup goaltender Eric Comrie turned away 26 shots for his second shutout of the season and the Winnipeg Jets tied a team record with their 52nd victory, blanking the Vegas Golden Knights 4-0 on Thursday in Las Vegas.
Mark Scheifele, Adam Lowry, Colin Miller and Cole Perfetti scored goals and Nino Niederreiter added two assists for Winnipeg (52-20-4, 108 points). It marked the third time that the Jets, who lead the NHL in points, have won 52 games in a season joining the 2017-18 and 2023-24 teams.
Comrie posted the fourth shutout of his career. With the win, the Jets maintained a four-point lead over the second-place Dallas Stars, a 5-1 winner over the Nashville Predators earlier Thursday, in the Central Division.
Adin Hill, pulled after two periods for Akira Schmid, recorded 16 saves for the Golden Knights (45-22-8, 98 points). Schmid, making only his second appearance with Vegas, stopped both shots that he faced.
Vegas saw its Pacific Division lead over the second-place Los Angeles Kings, a 4-2 winner over the Utah Hockey Club, shrink to three points. The loss also snapped Vegas' eight-game regular-season win streak over Winnipeg that dated back to 2022.
Winnipeg took a 1-0 lead at 13:01 of the first period. Scheifele one-timed a crossing pass from Alex Iafallo from the bottom of the left circle past Hill's blocker side for his 799th career point.
Lowry extended the lead to 2-0 a little over five minutes later when he put in a rebound of a Niederreiter shot from the front of the net.
The Jets extended the advantage to 3-0 midway through the second period on a power-play goal by Miller. He blasted a 96 mph one-timer from above the faceoff circles past Hill's blocker side.
Schmid was pulled for an extra attacker with 5:28 remaining, and Perfetti sealed the win with an empty-netter with 51.4 seconds to go.
