Kent State Football Player Dies After Team Workout

Kent State freshman Tyler Heintz died today after a team workout, the university has confirmed.
Heintz, an offensive lineman, was taken to a local hospital after conditioning drills this morning. According to the Kent Record-Courier, paramedics were called to the stadium shortly after 9 a.m. Heintz was unresponsive when they arrived and was pronounced dead at the hospital about two hours later. The cause of death is not yet known.
Today was the second day of summer workouts for the team, and Heintz had only recently arrived on campus for his freshman season. He was from Kenton, Ohio, about two and a half hours away from the university.
