Mandatory Credit: Brian Bradshaw Sevald-Imagn Images Los Angeles Kings forward Kevin Fiala will miss the remainder of the regular season after surgery to repair a leg injury sustained last week while competing for Switzerland at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
Fiala was hurt in Friday's 5-1 loss to Canada and had to be stretchered off the ice after getting his legs tangled up with Canada's Tom Wilson.
The Kings confirmed Sunday night that surgery to repair fractures in his lower left leg was completed successfully.
"He is resting comfortably and will begin the recovery and rehabilitation program," the team statement read. "Kevin will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 NHL regular season and will be reevaluated at the conclusion of the regular season."
Fiala, 29, ranks second on the Los Angeles roster this season in points (40), goals (18) and assists (22) in 56 games. The Kings are three points behind the Anaheim Ducks for the final wild-card spot in the NHL's Western Conference.
For his career, the 2022-23 All-Star has 229 goals and 299 assists in 707 games with three teams. He is in his fourth season with the Kings and 12th in the NHL.
