LAFC adds M Mathieu Choiniere on loan from Swiss club

Mandatory Credit: David Kirouac-Imagn Images Los Angeles FC acquired midfielder Mathieu Choiniere on loan from GC Zurich of the Swiss Super League in a loan that runs through the 2025 calendar year.
Choiniere, 26, has plenty of familiarity with MLS as a Canada native who came up through CF Montreal's youth system.
In 119 appearances (89 starts) with CF Montreal from 2018-24, the two-time MLS All-Star scored 11 goals with 10 assists. In 17 games (eight starts) in Switzerland, he scored one goal.
Choiniere also has 17 appearances with Canada's national team, including three in this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup.
"Mathieu is a proven performer in our league whose experience, intelligence, and versatility in midfield will be a tremendous asset to our group," LAFC general manager John Thorrington said in a release. "We're thrilled to welcome him to LAFC as we strengthen our roster in pursuit of more trophies."
