Leafs blow three-goal lead, top Flames in shootout

Calgary overcame a 4-1 deficit to tie the game early in the third period.
William Nylander scored twice and had an assist for Toronto to extend his points streak to 14 games, a ongoing team record to open a season.
Calle Jarnkrok and John Tavares also scored for the Maple Leafs, who had lost five of their previous six games (1-3-2). Toronto goalie Joseph Woll made 24 saves.
Connor Zary, Nikita Zadorov, A.J, Greer and Martin Pospisil scored for the Flames, who had won their two previous games after losing six straight. Dan Vladar stopped 32 shots for the Flames.
Calgary's Yegor Sharangovich and Toronto's Mitchell Marner converted their shootout attempts. In the final round, Domi scored on a wrist shot before Woll stopped Dillon Dube's backhand attempt.
Nylander scored his eighth goal of the season during a power play at 3:01 of the first period. On a broken play, he grabbed a loose puck and worked his way between two defensemen. Greer was off for holding.
Zary tied the game with his second goal of the season on his own rebound at 7:02 of the first.
Toronto regained the lead with Jarnkrok's fourth goal of the season on a backhand at 8:18 of the first.
Nylander scored his ninth of the season on a short-handed individual effort at 1:06 of the second period for a 4-1 lead.
Tavares produced his sixth goal of the season on a slick pass from Nylander at 4:45 of the second.
Zadorov scored his first of the season on a 58-foot slap shot at 5:33 of the second.
Greer tipped in his second of the season at 12:22 of the second.
Calgary tied the game at 3:22 of the third period on Pospisil's second goal of the season after a scramble around the net.
