Liquid, Eternal Fire advance to CCT Global Finals championship

Eternal Fire and Team Liquid advanced to the grand final of the Champion of Champions Tour Season 1 Global Finals on Wednesday.

The teams will play for the championship in a best-of-five on Thursday. The winner will receive half of the $500,000 prize pool.

Eternal Fire swept GamerLegion while Liquid beat Astralis 2-1 in the semifinals.

The CCT Season 1 Global Finals split 16 teams into four double-elimination groups of four. The top two teams out of each group advanced to a single-elimination playoff bracket.

On Wednesday, Eternal Fire beat GamerLegion 13-10 on Anubis and 13-7 on Mirage. Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dortkardes led the all-Turkish side with 40 kills and a plus-15 kills-to-deaths differential. Estonia's Andreas "aNdu" Maasing led GameLegion with 30 kills.

Liquid opened with a 19-17 on Inferno in overtime. Astralis bounced back with a 13-10 on Nuke before Liquid clinched with a 13-3 rout on Dust II. Canadian Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken led Liquid with 75 kills and a plus-32 K-D differential. Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard led the Danes with 50 kills.
