Longtime ESPN Executive To Become New Syracuse Athletic Director
ESPN executive vice president John Wildhack, who has been with the network since its inception and was one of president John Skipper’s top lieutenants, has been named the new athletic director at Syracuse University.
Wildhack worked at ESPN for 36 years, and currently oversees all production efforts for the network. In a memo announcing Wildhack’s departure, Skipper wrote that Wildhack has “had a direct hand in virtually every major content milestone ESPN has achieved.” He is also not a fan of his anchors using the word “sucks.”
Wildhack will be replacing former Syracuse athletic director Mark Coyle, who unexpectedly quit after just a year on the job so that he could take the same position at the University of Minnesota.
