Louisville blanks Angel City 1-0, moves into playoff spot

Sarah Weber scored in the 66th minute for Racing Louisville, which broke a three-game losing streak and won at home for the first time in three months on Saturday by defeating Angel City 1-0.
Emma Sears created the scoring chance. She pestered Sara Doorsoun deep in Angel City's end and ultimately took the ball away. Sears' cross into the box was redirected by a sliding Weber past keeper Angelina Anderson for her second of the season.
Saturday's match pitted teams outside of the top eight, but Racing's win propelled them ahead of the North Carolina Courage for the eighth and final playoff spot. However, the Courage, who host Louisville (8-5-9, 29 points) next Saturday, visit the Seattle Reign on Sunday night.
Angel City (6-6-10, 24) controlled the ball for most of the game, but it was the host side that had the most and better chances. Louisville outshot its guests 17-10 overall and 4-2 on goal.
Racing appeared to take the lead with a Katie O'Kane goal in the third minute. However, it was overturned after a replay review determined the forward was offside.
Weber had a shot inside the goalie box in the 37th minute, but Anderson was able to deny it.
It was also a physical affair in the first half, with four yellow cards issued, three of which went to Angel City.
Jordyn Bloomer saved two shots for Louisville, while Anderson finished with three.
