LSU reinstates CB Javien Toviano amid voyeurism case

LSU reinstated cornerback Javien Toviano less than two weeks after he turned himself in to authorities on charges of video voyeurism.
A projected starter for LSU, Toviano was at the Tigers' first practice of fall camp Thursday, and coach Brian Kelly briefly addressed the situation without explaining what had changed to allow him back with the team.
"He's back in football activities, and we'll kind of get him going again, back in the mix," Kelly told reporters. "Obviously, he's going to be a competitive player for us. He played for us last year, and we'll get him going as he works through his legal matters."
According to an arrest warrant from police in Baton Rouge, La., Toviano is accused of filming himself having sex with a woman without her consent to be recorded. The woman told police Toviano had recorded them having sex in the past without her consent and she made it clear to him she did not want to be recorded.
The woman said a clock with a built-in camera near the bed recorded videos that she later found on Toviano's iPad. Toviano admitted in an interview with detectives that he had used the hidden camera for this purpose.
WBRZ in Baton Rouge reported that Toviano hired a new lawyer this week.
Toviano was a top-100 recruit in the Class of 2023 and played in 13 games as a freshman, finishing with 33 tackles, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery.
