LYON, G2 Esports stay alive at Mid-Season Invitational

Jan. 24, 2020 LYON and G2 Esports stayed alive in the lower bracket with victories Wednesday in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational in Daejeon, South Korea.
They will meet in the lower bracket final after G2 knocked out T1 with a 3-1 win and LYON eliminated Secret Whales with a 3-0 sweep.
G2 opened with 46- and 31-minute wins on blue before T1 notched a 30-minute victory on red. G2 closed out the match with a 51-minute triumph on blue, with Sergen "BrokenBlade" Celik earning MVP honors with a 32-18-25 kills-deaths-assists ratio.
LYON posted 28-, 29- and 33-minute wins on blue in a decisive sweep. Min-cheol "Berserker" Kim led the way with a 19-3-13 kills-deaths-assists ratio.
The double-elimination bracket stage will continue with Bilibili Gaming facing Hanwha Life in the upper bracket final. The winner advances to Sunday's grand final of the $2 million tournament, where the champion will earn $500,000 and qualify for this fall's 2026 World Championship. All matches are best-of-five.
