Mandatory Credit: Lon Horwedel-Imagn Images The Seattle Mariners reinstated outfielder Rob Refsnyder from the 10-day injured list and designated infielder Buddy Kennedy for assignment Tuesday.
Refsnyder, 35, hadn't played since June 26 due to right knee inflammation. Renowned for his ability to handle left-handed pitchers, the right-handed hitter posted a .133 average with three home runs and nine RBIs in 49 games before his IL stint.
This is Refsnyder's first season in Seattle. Across 11 MLB seasons with the New York Yankees (2015-17), Toronto Blue Jays (2017), Tampa Bay Rays (2018), Texas Rangers (2020), Minnesota Twins (2021), Boston Red Sox (2022-25) and Mariners, he is a career .246 batter with 36 homers, 163 RBIs and 196 runs.
Kennedy, 27, was purchased in late June from the San Francisco Giants and made five appearances for Seattle. He went 1-for-10 with one double while appearing at second and third base.
He is a veteran of seven MLB teams in five seasons and a career .167 hitter with two homers and 20 RBIs.
