Marlins acquire RHP Bradley Blalock from Rockies

Downing-Imagn Images The Miami Marlins acquired right-hander Bradley Blalock from the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday in exchange for minor league pitcher Jake Brooks.
Blalock was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for righty Michael Lorenzen, who agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with the Rockies last week.
The acquisition of Blalock gives Miami additional depth on its roster after the team traded right-hander Edward Cabrera to the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Ryan Weathers to the New York Yankees earlier this month.
Blalock, 25, posted a 2-6 record with a 9.36 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) last season.
He is 3-9 with an 8.16 ERA in 21 career appearances (18 starts) with the Milwaukee Brewers and Rockies.
Brooks, a 24-year-old right-hander, posted an 8-8 record with a 4.33 ERA in 23 starts last season between High-A Beloit and Double-A Pensacola.
Also on Tuesday, the Marlins designated right-hander Osvaldo Bido for assignment.
