Marlins sent LHP Steven Okert to Twins for INF/OF Nick Gordon

The Miami Marlins traded left-handed reliever Steven Okert to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday for utility player Nick Gordon.
Okert, 32, was 3-2 last season in Miami with a 4.45 ERA, 73 strikeouts and 24 walks in 58 2/3 innings in 64 relief appearances.
A fourth-round selection by San Francisco in the 2012 MLB Draft, Okert pitched for the Giants in 2016-18, and signed with the Marlins as a free agent in 2021. In six seasons, he is 12-9 with a 3.70 ERA, 220 strikeouts and 80 walks in 194 1/3 innings in 228 games (two starts).
Gordon, 28, has played shortstop, second base and in the outfield. He appeared in just 34 games in 2023 after breaking his right shin on May 17. He batted .176 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 91 at-bats.
The Twins selected Gordon fifth overall in the 2014 draft. He is the younger brother of former major leaguer Dee Strange-Gordon, who played in Miami in 2015-17, and the son of former All-Star pitcher Tom "Flash" Gordon.
Nick Gordon is a career .250 hitter with 15 home runs, 80 RBIs in 696 at-bats in 243 games over parts of the past three seasons with the Twins. He has 16 stolen bases in 21 attempts.
