Miles Bridges has charges dropped

Bridges was allegedly involved in an incident in October between him and the mother of his children. A criminal summons was issued for him that alleged misdemeanor child abuse and injury to personal property. The summons alleged that he threw pool table balls at the woman’s car, which dented it and smashed the windshield and he allegedly threatened to withhold child support if she reported the incident to the police.
The Mecklenburg County District Court dismissed three charges related to those incidents, and dropped the fourth charge, which alleged that Bridges violated a domestic violence protective order. The North Carolina court dismissed the cases because of “the lack of sufficient evidence necessary to overcome the inconsistency of these accounts, the state would not be successful at trial.”
Bridges’ first incident occurred in June 2022, when he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend in front of their two kids. He was arrested two days later and charged with one felony count of injuring a child’s parent and two felony counts of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily harm or death. The NBA did its own investigation and suspended Bridges for 30 games, causing him to miss the entirety of the 2022-23 season.
He was arrested again in November, where he pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge in Los Angeles. In a deal with the prosecutors, Bridges was given three years of probation and no jail time, as well as domestic violence counseling and parenting classes for a whole year, 100 hours of community service, and weekly drug tests for narcotics.
In December, Bridges was denied entry into Canada for the Hornets game against the Raptors due to all the legal issues surrounding him and these cases.
Bridges this season is averaging 21.6 points, 3.4 assists and 7.2 total rebounds, his best season so far.
