MLB suspends Brewers' Abner Uribe, Freddy Peralta, Rays' Jose Siri
Milwaukee Brewers pitchers Abner Uribe and Freddy Peralta were suspended six and five games, respectively, for their roles in Tuesday's benches-clearing incident against Tampa Bay, Major League Baseball announced.
MLB also announced Wednesday that Rays outfielder Jose Siri was handed a three-game suspension for his role in the skirmish. Brewers manager Pat Murphy received a two-game ban for inappropriate conduct toward officials, the league said.
Murphy began serving his suspension during Wednesday's game. Siri was not in the starting lineup for the Rays.
All four parties also received an undisclosed fine for their actions during Tuesday's game, an 8-2 win by the Brewers.
Peralta was tossed after hitting Siri with a pitch with one out in the sixth inning and Milwaukee up 6-1.
Siri, whose 452-foot solo homer in the third inning was the only hit off Peralta, also was ejected in the eighth after exchanging punches with Uribe following a groundout to first base. That scrap led the benches to clear as a scrum broke out.
Murphy also was booted for the second consecutive game. On Monday, he was ejected after arguing a ninth-inning, batter-interference ruling that prevented Milwaukee from scoring the tying run. Tampa Bay held on for a 1-0 win.
