After Colvin's shot snapped a 67-67 tie, Omaha Biliew made a free throw for Wake Forest. Nziemi's foul shot with 12 seconds left gave Longwood a chance. After Harris missed a pair of free-throw attempts, Thompson's 3-point launch at the buzzer was off the mark.
The Demon Deacons shot 41% from the floor, but benefited from making 22 of 30 free-throw tries.
Calmese had six early points as Wake Forest took a 15-11 lead, but the lead changed hands seven times in the first half before Longwood claimed a 34-30 lead at the break. Thompson provided eight points and half of the Lancers' four 3-point baskets.

Longwood went without a field goal for almost six minutes while Wake Forest's lead grew to 64-54 on a pair of Harris free throws with 3:51 to play.
But Thompson's long 3-pointer with 3:41 left drew the Lancers within 64-57. Another Thompson 3-pointer tied the game with 1:49 remaining.
Wake Forest went ahead on two Harris free throws before Jacoi Hutchinson's two foul shots forced the game's ninth and final tie. That set up Colvin for his big shot.
