NBC Won't Be Changing Tape Delay Policy Anytime Soon
NBC just posted its best overnight ratings ever for an opening night of competition at a non-U.S. based Olympics. You can go ahead and uncross your fingers if you were looking for live, televised, coverage of events.
The overnight is 8 percent higher than Beijing, when swimmer Michael Phelps won the first of his eight gold medals in a live race. It also is 22 percent higher than Athens in 2004.
This is annoying, yes, but would be less annoying if NBC's live online coverage didn't seem to be sending computers into epileptic fits.
In other ratings news, there are 15 cities more patriotic than Boston. Including Salt Lake City, which was the highest metered market last night.
