Mandatory Credit: John Hefti-Imagn Images The Brooklyn Nets announced multi-year extensions for head coach Jordi Fernandez and his entire coaching staff on Monday. Terms were not disclosed.
Fernandez, a longtime NBA assistant, just concluded his second season leading the Nets in his first NBA head-coaching gig. Over two seasons under his watch, Brooklyn has gone a combined 46-118 (.280).
Prior to Brooklyn, Fernandez was the associate head coach for the Sacramento Kings (2022-24), an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets (2016-22) and a player development/G League coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers (2009-16).
This past season, the rebuilding Nets, who drafted an NBA-record five players in the first round of last summer's draft, finished with the third-worst record in the league at 20-62.
That means they're tied for the best odds at the No. 1 overall pick and have a 40% chance to come away with their first top-three pick since 2010.
Brooklyn has 13 total first-round picks and 19 second-round picks over the next seven drafts.
