No. 25 Louisville stuns No. 10 Notre Dame to remain unbeaten

Jawhar Jordan bolted for two touchdown runs in the second half to propel No. 25 Louisville to a 33-20 win over No. 10 Notre Dame on Saturday before the largest home crowd in Louisville history.

Jordan carried 21 times for 143 yards as Louisville (6-0) won its eighth straight game dating to last season and matched its longest winning streak since 2000.

Under first-year coach Jeff Brohm, the Cardinals also overwhelmed the Fighting Irish with defense, forcing five turnovers. Notre Dame (5-2) had committed just two turnovers in its first six games.

Facing a heavy Cardinals rush, which produced five sacks, Sam Hartman completed 22 of 38 passes for 254 yards for the Fighting Irish, throwing two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Hartman had not been intercepted in his first 148 passes, the longest streak ever to start a season by a Notre Dame quarterback. Devin Neal made two picks in the fourth quarter for Louisville. Quincy Riley had the other interception.

Louisville also limited Notre Dame's Audric Estime to 20 yards on 10 carries. Estime entered Saturday with more rushing yards than any player in the FBS.

Notre Dame led 10-7 early in the third quarter. But Louisville dominated the rest of the way. Jordan's touchdown runs covered 45 and 21 yards.

After missing a field goal attempt near the end of the second quarter, Louisville kicker Brock Travelstead booted field goals of 45, 44, 35 and 32 yards after the break.

On its first possession of the game, Louisville drove 70 yards in 12 plays, including a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jack Plummer to Jamari Thrash.

The Fighting Irish answered with an 88-yard march, capped off by a 36-yard, Hartman-to-Jordan Faison touchdown pass that tied it 7-7 in the second quarter.

Early in the second half, Spencer Shrader kicked a 53-yard field goal for Notre Dame before Travelstead answered, making it 10-10.

On the Cardinals' next possession, Jawhar gave Louisville a 17-10 lead when he bolted off tackle and raced 45 yards untouched.

Shrader countered minutes later with another booming kick. His 54-yard field goal matched the longest in Notre Dame history, a mark Shrader set earlier this year in a win over North Carolina State.
