Marvin Sharp, who coached gymnasts in the 2008 Olympics and is the owner of Sharp’s Gymnastics Academy in Indianapolis, Ind., has been arrested after being accused of of child molestation.
According to WTHR in Indiana, the investigation began after one of Sharp’s female students went to the police. Since his arrest, Sharp’s home and office have been raided and his electronic devices have been searched for child pornography. According to WTHR, more charges might be coming:
Sources tell Eyewitness News that in addition to the single charge of molestation, there could be additional victims. The U.S. Attorney’s Office would not confirm an investigation, but sources say the federal agency is currently reviewing the case, specifically looking at which images were found on Sharp’s computers and other devices.
Sharp trained Bridget Sloan, who won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Samantha Peszek, another silver medalist in 2008, trained at Sharp’s academy after the Olympics.
