Jordan Woodruff The Perfect World Shanghai Major's opening stage ended Tuesday with eight teams advancing to the elimination stage.
The Mongolz, Team Liquid, GamerLegion, FURIA Esports, paiN Gaming, Wildcard, BIG and MIBR moved on at the $1.25 million Counter-Strike 2 event in China.
They join the eight invited teams -- G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, Team Spirit, MOUZ, FaZe Clan, HEROIC and 3DMAX -- in the Swiss System elimination stage that begins Thursday.
The opening stage concluded Tuesday with three Round 5 matches. BIG, MIBR and Wildcard eliminated Complexity Gaming, FlyQuest and Passion UA, respectively.
Complexity opened with a 13-5 win on Anubis but BIG answered with consecutive 13-9 wins on Ancient and Dust II.
MIBR swept FlyQuest, cruising 13-4 on Nuke and 13-5 on Inferno.
After splitting the first two maps, Wildcard pulled out a 16-13 victory against Passion UA on Ancient.
Playoffs for the Perfect World Shanghai Major run from Dec. 12-15. The winning team will receive $500,000.
