Boston's home game against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night was postponed due to what the team called "significant rainfall and thunderstorms in the Fenway (Park) area."
The American League East rivals will play a doubleheader Wednesday. Tuesday's rescheduled game will begin at 1:35 p.m. local, while Game 2 will remain at its scheduled time of 7:10 p.m.
The Red Sox opened the three-game series with a 6-5 victory Monday night, which also ended a season-high seven-game win streak for the Orioles. They are one win away from matching the franchise record of 15 consecutive wins set in 1946.
Pitching plans for the twin bill were not yet known. The Red Sox had planned to start left-hander Ranger Suarez (4-3, 3.15 ERA) opposite Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (6-9, 3.61) on Tuesday before the rainout.
