Mandatory Credit: Jim Rassol-Imagn Images Sergei Bobrovsky made 17 saves for his 50th career shutout as the Florida Panthers handed the visiting Vegas Golden Knights their first regulation loss of the season, 3-0, on Saturday night in Sunrise, Fla.
A.J. Greer had a goal and an assist and Sam Reinhart and Cole Schwindt each scored goals for Florida, which won for just the second time in seven games. It was the first shutout of the season for Bobrovsky, who also picked up his 434th career win.
Akira Schmid finished with 23 saves for Vegas, which had a 14-game regular-season point streak dating back to last season snapped.
Florida, which missed a chance to take an early lead when Brad Marchand's tip try grazed off the outside of the right post, took a 1-0 lead at the 17:19 mark of the first period on a goal by Reinhart.
Carter Verhaeghe picked up the primary assist, making a crossing pass to Reinhart as he broke in free behind Kaeden Korczak. Reinhart then cut in front of the crease and fired a wrist shot past Schmid's glove side for his fourth goal of the season.
Reinhart had two more good scoring chances in a scoreless second period, firing a shot off the crossbar at the end of an odd-man rush, then getting stopped by Schmid who made a pad save on his five-hole try from the low slot.
Schwindt, making his season debut with the Panthers after being claimed on waivers from Vegas on Oct. 2, made it 2-0 early in the third period when he pulled the puck out of a scrum in front of the crease and rifled a wrist shot through the legs of Zach Whitecloud and past Schmid for his second career goal.
Greer extended the lead to 3-0 midway through the period when he scooped up a rebound of a Marchand shot and wrapped a shot in around the right post for his third goal.
