Mandatory Credit: Tim Fuller-Imagn Images Patrick Kane scored twice and Alex DeBrincat collected three assists as the host Detroit Red Wings rolled to a 5-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday, ending a three-game losing streak.
Emmitt Finnie and Dominik Shine also scored for the Red Wings, who held onto an Eastern Conference wild-card spot with one month remaining in the season.
Detroit goaltender John Gibson made 26 saves, and J.T. Compher collected two assists.
Matt Coronato collected one goal and one assist and Morgan Frost added a goal for the Flames, who completed a 1-4-0 road trip and sit second from the bottom of the league standings.
Calgary goalie Dustin Wolf stopped 20 shots.
After Calgary staked a 1-0 first-period lead, Kane provided a much needed spark for the Red Wings, converting a breakaway 63 seconds into the second period to tie the score.
The goal was the 503rd of his career to move him ahead of Joe Mullen into fourth on the all-time list for American-born players behind Mike Modano (561), Keith Tkachuk (538) and Jeremy Roenick (513).
Finnie put Detroit ahead four minutes after that by finishing an open chance off the rush and redirecting Albert Johansson's pass.
Kane buried his second of the night 91 seconds later, another redirect off a rush set up by DeBrincat. Kane reached the 40-point plateau, an milestone he has hit in all 19 of his NHL seasons.
Coronato briefly steadied the Flames at 7:23 of the middle frame with first goal in 15 games, benefiting from a pass attempt that deflected off a defender and into the cage to make it 3-2.
However, Seider whipped a top-corner shot from the point with a screen set for a power-play goal at 11:45 of the second to make it 4-2.
Shine's empty-net goal with 65 seconds left rounded out the scoring.
Calgary opened the scoring when Frost finished a three-way passing play with a redirect of Matvei Gridin's pass at 17:35 of the first period.
