Mandatory Credit: Bob DeChiara-Imagn Images Backup quarterback Tommy DeVito agreed to a two-year contract with the Patriots worth up to $7.4 million with $2 million in guarantees, his agent told multiple outlets on Friday.
DeVito, a restricted free agent, was the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart in New England behind Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs in 2025. All three quarterbacks are under contract in 2026.
DeVito was claimed when the New York Giants waived him last August as the odd man out in an overhauled quarterback depth chart that opened with Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and 2025 first-round pick Jaxson Dart.
In 12 career NFL games with the Giants, DeVito completed 145 of 222 passes for 1,358 yards. All eight of his career TD passes and three interceptions came during his 2023 season when he made six starts following an injury to Tyrod Taylor.
He entered the NFL with the Giants in April 2023, signing an undrafted free agent contract after a productive senior season at Illinois. He played at Syracuse from 2019-2021 and totaled 43 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in 40 career college games.
