Penguins Fan Says He Was Booted For Pierre McGuire Sign
Penguins superfan Cy Clark alleges he was kicked out of yesterday's game because of his sign of Pierre McGuire's noggin, with "REGIS" stamped on the forehead. (McGuire's real first name is Regis. Now you know!) Others say there's more to the story.
After hearing about what happened to Clark—also known as "MalkaMania"—Pittsburgh Tribune-Review sports columnist Dejan Kovacevic spoke with the fan and took a photo of Clark looking really sad with his sign.
According to the Pens Blog's sources, however, Clark didn't disclose his full actions:
Two sources confirmed that Clark had obscenities on the back of his poster, and that he flipped off Pierre and yelled "Fuck you" at him. He was asked to calm down by officials, but refused, and was removed. Kudos to the security team for doing so.
There's no clear answer here. If Clark really did nothing but hold up McGuire's big head with his actual name, that's odd enforcement by the Consol Energy Center. If the sources are correct, then Superfan #71 needs to chill.
