The Phillies placed left-hander Tanner Banks on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left forearm strain.

Philadelphia recalled right-hander Chase Shugart from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill the vacant roster spot.

Banks, 34, is 0-4 with a 7.14 ERA through 28 games (one start) this season.

He gave up back-to-back-to-back homers to Cincinnati's Elly De La Cruz, Sal Stewart and JJ Bleday in the fourth inning of Wednesday's 11-5 road loss to the Reds.

Banks is 11-13 with four saves and a 4.01 ERA in 227 career games (seven starts) with the Chicago White Sox (2022-24) and Phillies.

Shugart, 29, is 2-0 with a 4.97 ERA in 26 appearances out of the Philadelphia bullpen this season. He pitched for Boston in 2024 and Pittsburgh last season.
