Pistons' Cade Cunningham (lung) out at least one more week
Mar 17, 2026; Washington, District of Columbia, USA; Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (2) looks on during first half against the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena. Mandatory Credit: Daniel Kucin Jr.-Imagn Images Detroit Pistons All-Star guard Cade Cunningham will be re-evaluated in one week as he continues to work his way back from a collapsed left lung, the team announced Thursday.
Cunningham has missed eight games since he was injured on March 17 in a contest against the Washington Wizards.
The Pistons will play four more games in his absence, which would leave Cunningham unable to reach the 65-game threshold to be eligible for end-of-season awards. He has played in 61 games this season, and only two would remain if timeline remains as expected.
The NBA playoffs begin on April 18.
Cunningham, 24, is averaging 24.5 points, 9.9 assists and 5.6 rebounds this season.
A two-time All-Star, Cunningham is averaging 22.6 points, 7.9 assists and 5.4 rebounds in 269 career games (all starts) since the Pistons selected him with the top overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.
