Rangers ship Adam Edstrom to Nashville for prospect, draft pick

The New York Rangers have traded center Adam Edstrom to the Nashville Predators in exchange for prospect Massimo Rizzo and the No. 148 draft pick. The Rangers announced the move on Saturday, the second day of the NHL Draft at KeyBank Center in Buffalo.

Edstrom's 2025-26 season was disrupted by injuries, and he played in only 35 games. During his three-year tenure with New York, he had 10 goals, six assists and 189 hits.

The 25-year-old was drafted 161st overall in 2019.

Rizzo, 25, was not expected to receive a qualifying offer from the Rangers, which will make him a free agent this week.

On Friday, the Rangers announced a prospect swap with the Canadiens, sending Brett Berard to Montreal in exchange for William Trudeau.

There was not much room on the Rangers' roster for Edstrom with the emergence of Jaroslav Chmelar and Adam Sykora. The trade clears a path for other promising players to earn a roster spot.
