The Green Bay Packers will host the Baltimore Ravens in one of the stranger games of the NFL season. This game technically has playoff implications, but it’s unlikely this game ends up mattering for either team.

The Ravens enter this game with a 7-8 record, and they haven’t quite been eliminated from the playoffs. NFL.com is giving them an 8% chance to make the playoffs, but it only bumps to 22% if they win. Overall, they need to win this game, win next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and have Pittsburgh lose to the Cleveland Browns this week.

The Packers have clinched the playoffs after the Detroit Lions’ loss on Christmas. Technically, they can jump from the 7-seed to the 5-seed, but they need a ton of help. They’ll need to win both of their remaining games, while two of the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, or Seattle Seahawks go 0-2 in their final two games.

Overall, this game could matter for both teams, but it’s relatively unlikely to actually have any impact on the playoffs at this point.

Two of the biggest keys to this game are the quarterbacks. Both teams have viable backups, but they could be missing their stars.

Lamar Jackson is listed as doubtful, and it’s unlikely he’ll play in this game. Tyler Huntley is a fine backup, but he isn’t someone you want consistently leading your offense. He’s found some success in limited snaps this season, but he struggled with more volume last year.

Green Bay ranks sixth in the NFL in points allowed (.328) per play this season. That number shifts to a league-best .244 at home in 2025. Overall, they’re giving up only 14.6 points per game at home, and it’s unlikely a Huntley-led Baltimore offense is going to find a ton of success against them.

The Baltimore defense has seen mixed results at times this season, but they are getting healthier. Generally, they’ve found more success against worse offenses, although they did hold Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals scoreless only a couple of games ago.

The key here is that Jordan Love is not expected to play, so expect Malik Willis to get the nod. There isn’t a ton of incentive for Green Bay to let Jordan Love go as usual, and they should focus a bit more on protecting him in this game. If that’s the case, they could struggle to consistently produce on offense.

We have two teams coming in with key injuries, and I’m leaning toward their defenses because of that.
