Rays place Griffin Jax (elbow) on 15-day injured list

The Tampa Bay Rays placed right-hander Grifin Jax on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort and recalled right-hander Michael Grove from Triple-A Durham.

Griffin, whose IL move is retroactive to Thursday, had been scratched from his start Saturday against the Seattle Mariners.

In 29 appearances (18 starts) this season, Jax is 6-9 with a 3.63 ERA but had taken the loss in three of his last four starts. Jax is 29-40 with a 3.95 ERA in 328 appearances (34 starts) over six seasons for the Minnesota Twins (2021-25) and Rays.

Grove, 29, made two appearances for the Rays earlier this season and went 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA. In four major league seasons he is 8-7 with a 5.42 ERA in 66 appearances (20 starts) with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2022-24) and Rays.
