Report: 76ers extend Daryl Morey through 2027-28

The Philadelphia 76ers are extending president of basketball operations Daryl Morey's contract through 2027-28, ESPN reported Friday.

Including a 16-7 record entering Friday, the Sixers have compiled a .653 winning percentage since hiring Morey in November 2020. Philadelphia reached the Eastern Conference semifinals in each of his first three seasons.

Morey, 51, previously served as the general manager of the Houston Rockets from 2007-20 and was named the NBA Executive of the Year for the 2017-18 season.

His most notable moves of 2023 include firing head coach Doc Rivers in May, hiring replacement Nick Nurse in June and trading disgruntled star James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 1.
