LIV Golf's season-ending team championship at Michigan remains on the schedule for next month despite multiple reports that it will be canceled, Front Office Sports reported Thursday.

No update on the status of the event is expected to come from LIV this week, according to the report.

The $40 million event -- with $11.2 million to the winning team -- is scheduled for Aug. 27-30 at The Cardinal at Saint John's Resort in Plymouth, Mich., a Detroit suburb. However, The Cardinal, which hosted the 2025 LIV team championship, has no tournament infrastructure or fan hospitality built out yet, per Front Office Sports.

It would be the second tournament removed from the 2026 schedule since Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund announced in April that it will stop funding the league at the end of this season. LIV New Orleans originally was set for June 25-28 before it was announced that it would be postponed.

If the Michigan tournament is nixed, there will be only two individual stroke-play tournaments left on the LIV Golf calendar: LIV Golf New York from Aug. 6-9 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., and LIV Golf Indianapolis from Aug. 20-23 at The Club at Chatham Hills in Westfield, Ind. That assumes the New Orleans event would not be rescheduled.

Under the circumstances, the Indianapolis tournament could be used to determine the team champion, FOS reported. LIV Golf declined to comment.

The league is searching for new investors for an adjusted business model, called "LIV 2.0." The deadline for finalizing a 2027 plan is believed to be Sept. 1.

LIV Golf played its first tournament since early June last week, with Australia's Lucas Herbert winning the title at LIV Golf United Kingdom on Sunday in Rocester, England.

The event drew 50,000 fans over the four competition days, an increase from 43,000 from the three-day event in 2025.

LIV golfer Martin Kaymer, the captain of Cleeks GC, said last week that there was only a 5% chance that the finale in Michigan would take place.
